In further documenting the Idaho Book Artists Guild's Artist in Residence experience I captured their First Thursday participation. On the first Thursday of every month downtown Boise celebrates the arts with a gallery stroll. The art galleries around town and art shops use this opportunity to show their wares to an interested audience. The Idaho Book Artists Guild set up three workshops in their space that gave strollers the opportunity to sit down and create artistic books with hands-on tutoring. It was a lot of fun and people enjoyed making little books with a twist such as the "hidden room" book depicted in the first picture. In addition to First Thursdays, iBAG will also be holding some workshops on some Saturdays as well.

Fountain Photo Study
Sometimes it's a lot of fun to take one object and spend a healthy parcel of time just looking at it, shooting pictures of it and then just keep shooting pictures of it. When my photo walk partner and I were shooting the steam shovel, he suggested that we take a second look at this fountain. It's pretty complex and complicated. It looks different from every angle that you look at it. So I had a lot of fun playing around with taking pictures of this fountain. I also brought various techniques into shooting it such as using the ND filter to slow down the light and I even tried an HDR picture. Though with the main colors ranging from blue to grey, it didn't have a lot of high dynamic range. Still I think I managed to bring out some interesting views. I hope you enjoy the results.

Idaho Book Arts Guild
I've been asked to document the Idaho Book Arts Guild as they were awarded an Artists In Residence by the city of Boise. They will be using a space in the BODO shopping district as a gallery and will be doing workshops on the weekends and during the First Thursdays art experience. At this point I was documenting their initial move-in and planning session. They brought in quite a few interesting tools and pieces of art. This is only the start. It will be fun to see this project come into full bloom.
